About Reliable Barrier Systems Ltd
We recognised that the market needed new, technically-strong, tested, and competitive, practical alternatives to traditional barrier systems and suppliers. With over 30 years’ experience in spring steels Reliable Barrier could meet all those criteria. In our first year we invested in specialist production facilities for spring steel safety barrier posts and bollards to supply stockists and system installation companies around the UK.
Our range of barrier systems provide traffic control and pedestrian protection in locations such as multi-storey and surface car parks and industrial premises. Our full range of bollards, bolt-down or concrete-in are available in a choice of materials; steel tube, stainless or plastic.
The service is backed with full IT control from ordering, through production, to packing, test certification and account management.
Testing & British Standards
Reliable Barrier flexible car park barrier systems have successfully completed a comprehensive, independent testing programme at MIRA, the Motor Industry Research Association.
The tests, in accordance with BS6399 Part 1 1996 and BS6180 1995, were completed on spring steel barrier systems using the several different versions of both the Reddifast spring steel posts and the Reddifast Steel Cushi Posts. The barrier systems also comply with the latest guidelines in the recent ICE reports into protection around structures.
For a number of years there has been a lack of choice of fully tested and approved barrier systems for car parks within the UK, but the Reliable spring steel safety barrier systems have already been integrated in the Waling Rail profile, which has a less intrusive width and is considered less industrial in appearance than other barrier protection systems.
The Reliable parking posts were part of the uniquely innovative safety barrier system used in the Gloucester Quays Car Park Barrier Contract, one of the largest car park barrier contracts awarded to date in the UK. The contract required a total of 3,474m of car park barrier systems, including products from across the Reliable range.
Spring Steel posts
A wide range of spring steel posts, bollards, and column protection, including bespoke designs, offers more installation options for multi-storey car parks and all other off-road protection systems. Our posts are designed to deflect on impact, vastly reducing damage to the vehicle, and protecting the infrastructure of the building.
Installation is quick and easy compared with rigid systems, requiring only one or two ground bolts with minimum embedment. Fewer fixings mean fewer holes to drill with time and materials savings.
Reliable barrier posts and mountings retain their integrity and continuing effectiveness after impacts, with significantly reduced force transferred into the car park deck. Less embedding depth means a greater range of installation opportunities, rigid posts need a thicker concrete floor.
Our Products
Spring Steel Post – Part no SP610 / SP760
This is the most called-for post for multi-storey car parks, with its ability to absorb most vehicle impacts, vastly reducing damage to the vehicle, and protecting the infrastructure of the building.
Replacement of posts is quick and easy, as is the original installation. The fitting time is very much less than rigid posts.
The post material is EN43 Spring Steel, fully certificated and traceable. The material section is 10mm x 76 mm or 14mm x 100mm or 20mm x 100mm. The posts are hardened and tempered after forming, followed by hot dip galvanising.
The posts and systems have been tested to comply with the British Standard BS6399 Part 1 Impact Testing and BS6180.
Spring Steel Post – Part no SPLSG / SPLMG / SPLHG
The benefits of this simple “L” shape post are that it can be manufactured to any height, and in three thicknesses, to suit the weight of traffic in the area of movement.
The SPLSG post is for the support of barriers in light traffic areas and column protectors.
The SPLMG post is the most chosen in this design and is a very robust barrier support for automobile traffic up to 1.5 tonnes.
The SPLHG is a heavy duty post, to support Open Box Beam or Armco Beam, and is capable of absorbing light impact from HGVs and is used to protect areas and structures where HGVs are parking or maneuvering.
The post material is EN43 Spring Steel, conforming to BS6399 Part 1 Impact Testing. The posts are hardened and tempered after forming, followed by hot dip galvanising.
The base plate is mild steel 6mm thick, available in 200mm or 300mm length to suit the post foot.
Spring Steel Post – Part no SPTSG / SPTMG / SPTHG
The most popular post in our spring steel post range. This post deflects approximately 350 mm, and as well as protecting the car park infrastructure, damage to vehicles is minimised by the absorption of the impact by the beam and post.
The post material is EN43 Spring Steel, fully certificated and traceable. The posts are hardened and tempered after forming, followed by hot dip galvanising.
